Ronda Rousey reportedly has her next fight.
And to the disappointment of seemingly everyone in the sporting and entertainment world who challenged Rousey to a scrap in the last month, this fight will come against an actual mixed martial artist.
Fresh off her 14-second destruction of Cat Zingano in February at UFC 184, ?Rowdy? is rumored to be meeting Bethe Correia at UFC 190 on Aug. 1 from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The fight is expected to serve as the main event ? although no official announcement from the UFC has been released. Brazilian outlet Tatame was the first to report the news.
Correia, 31, put herself on the MMA map last April when she defeated Rousey?s teammate, Jessamyn Duke. After defeating Duke, she held up four fingers, turned them upside down, and plunged them to the floor. The symbolic move was meant as a warning to Rousey and Duke along with teammates Marina Shafir and Shayna Baszler ? a.k.a. the ?Four Horsewomen.? It was a defiant move by the newcomer and it was signaling: ?One down, three more to go.?
Correia made good on her proclamation in August of the same year and TKO?d Baszler in the second round of their fight at UFC 177. The Brazilian bomber has been on a verbal assault ever since, and has her sights set directly on the women?s bantamweight champion.
Rousey, 28, is truly one of the biggest and brightest stars in the UFC. Undefeated in her career, Rousey is also the first woman in American history to medal in judo at the Summer Olympics. When she isn?t remaining undefeated in the Octagon, Rousey can be scene in summer blockbusters such as ?Furious 7? and the new ?Entourage? movie.
The fight with Correia is something Rousey has made clear she is interested in. However, after Rousey?s last fight, it was announced she would be taking time off to star in a new movie ? Peter Berg?s ?Mile 22.?
Correia has criticized Rousey for being too involved in Hollywood. She said that the champ needed to defend her belt to be considered a real champion ? which was a bit perplexing seeing as Rousey is one of the company?s most active champions.
Apparently Rousey?s next project won?t interfere with her fighting career too much. It will be the second time the champion has fought in 2015 and will take place in Correia?s backyard instead of Las Vegas or Los Angeles.
The ?home-court? advantage may seem nice on paper. However, when you consider that Rousey has dispatched the majority (10) of her opponents in the first round, this begins to seem more like a ?Ronda Rousey World Tour? showcase than a championship fight.
Hyperbole aside, this matchup features the third time Rousey will meet an undefeated challenger in the Octagon (Cat Zingano and Sara McMann were the others), and it will serve as another viable test for the incredibly dominant champion. If she can take care of Correia later this summer, then perhaps the long-rumored matchup of Rousey vs. Cristiane Justino could be the next logical opponent if "Cyborg" comes down to 135 pounds and the UFC bantamweight champion agrees to the fight.
After that, it?s anyone?s guess. However, for at least a few months, it will be nice to not have people talking about which athlete (man or woman) Rousey will square off against next.

Jon Jones-Daniel Cormier was a huge fight the first time it went down, and now, depending on how things play out, round twocould be even bigger. As you know, Cormier laid claim to the UFC’s light-heavyweight title last night, by tapping out Anthony Johnson with a third round, rear-naked-choke. It’s the latest chip to fall […]

Mark Munoz headed into his fight on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 66 against Luke Barnatt knowing it would be his last.
Munoz spent the last half decade as a UFC middleweight contender, and instead of hanging on too long, made it clear that he wanted to go out on his own terms.
Born in Yokosuka, Japan, to Filipino parents, ?The Filipino Wrecking Machine? returned to the Philippines on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.
With his signature ?Donkey Kong? ground and pound in full effect, Munoz pressured Barnatt for the entirety of their scrap. When his wrestling and ground control were less than effective, Munoz ripped Barnatt with uppercuts and a repeating overhand right that consistently wobbled his opponent.
As the final seconds ticked away on Munoz?s career, the Filipino faithful rose to their feet, roaring in approval as Munoz unleashed a late third-round onslaught that put an authoritative cap on his final fight.
Standing victorious after the official scorecards of 30-27, 29-28, 30-27 were read, Munoz took the microphone from UFC announcer Jon Anik and addressed the crowd with tears in his eyes.
?From the day when I was a kid, watching cartoons ? I remember watching superheroes,? Munoz said. ?I get to re-enact that every time I step into the cage. This is something I?ve dreamed about, and I hoped for; I know I didn?t accomplish what I wanted to accomplish in the cage. But I invested a lot of my time in lives and I invested in treasures in their hearts. I?ve been able to help change lives and impact lives in a positive way.?
At 37, and with six years as a UFC contender, Munoz hopes to pass down his athletic pedigree now that his career is over. Always the giver, Munoz ? who is widely regarded as one of the nicest, most polite fighters in the sport ? is looking to give back to the people who have supported him for all these years.
It can be difficult finding quality amateur wrestling in the Philippines, but the former collegiate standout hopes to change that in the coming years.
?Guys, that?s what I?m here for ... I have a story to be able to give to kids,? Munoz said. ?I want to be able to teach and come back here to the Philippines and give my talents and abilities to you guys, and to be able to help the Philippines in wrestling. That?s my goal. I have so much to give for this sport.?
After thanking the UFC and his family, Munoz stripped off the red tape from his gloves, removed them from his hands, and placed them in the center of the Octagon ? signaling the end of his career.
?I will cherish these memories for a lifetime,? Munoz said. ?We all have a story and mixed martial arts has been the story of my career.?
That?s what fighting is all about, and few, if any, have represented the profession of ?fighter? better than Munoz.

The wife of ex-UFC fighter Corey Hill on Thursday denied a UFC statement that Hill had died earlier in the day.
Late Thursday afternoon Pacific time, the Las Vegas-based UFC announced on its website that Hill had died at 36 years old. Several of HIll's friends and family members had earlier said publicly that he'd died. A number of news sites, including Yahoo Sports, reported that Hill was dead shortly after the UFC release.
But Hill's wife, Lauren, speaking to TMZ, denied he'd died. She told the site her husband "was resting and still alive."
Hill fought on Season 5 of the reality series, 'The Ultimate Fighter,' and competed three times in the organization, going 1-2 in 2008.
Pat Miletich, a former UFC champion and member of its Hall of Fame, spoke to Yahoo Sports about Hill's reported death. Miletich coached Hill and the two had become close. Miletich told Yahoo Sports he thought that Hill, who was 6-9 in his mixed martial arts career, was talented enough to win the lightweight title. He said Hill had died as a result of complications from pneumonia.
The UFC declined comment on the deletion of its statement.

You can say a lot of things about boxing?s pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. One thing you cannot say, however, is that he lacks confidence.
[DraftKings: UFC contests are live today ? draft your team now!]
So, then, perhaps when UFC featherweight contender Conor McGregor said this week that he would ?kill? Mayweather in less than thirty seconds, maybe ?Money? would appreciate the blinding braggadocio.
?I don?t look at a man who?s an expert in one area as a specialist. I look at him as a rookie in ten other areas,? McGregor said in an interview with Esquire. ?If you can box, what happens if I grab hold of your legs? If you put me face-to-face with Floyd Mayweather?pound-for-pound boxing?s best?if I fought Floyd, I would kill him in less than 30 seconds. It would take me less than 30 seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him.?
Hyperbole? Maybe.
Entertaining? Always.
Both McGregor and Mayweather have a penchant for slinging around grandiose statements. The only difference is, Mayweather has been a professional boxer since 1996, carries an Olympic pedigree, and is undefeated in 47 fights. McGregor, well, he?s fighting for his very first title this summer at UFC 189 in July against one of MMA?s pound-for-pound kings, Jose Aldo. This goes without mentioning that we are talking about two completely different sports, here.
That said, McGregor has seen a meteoric rise in MMA because of his mouth and his impressive ability inside the cage. People thought McGregor was insane when he said that ? after only two UFC wins ? he would be fighting Aldo by the end of 2015. Yet, here we stand.
McGregor-Mayweather will never happen. But leave it to the astute Irishman to drum up publicity for himself by throwing out Mayweather's name two weeks before the biggest fight in boxing history. Mayweather meets Manny Pacquiao on May 2 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The latest in a string of disturbing incidents in his personal life cost Jon Jones the UFC light heavyweight championship.
UFC president Dana White announced on Fox Sports 1 on Tuesday that the company had stripped Jones of the belt and suspended him indefinitely, only two days after Jones allegedly fled the scene of an auto accident in Albuquerque, N.M.
Jones manager Malki Kawa told Yahoo Sports he is not prepared to comment. He said he expected to release a statement on Jones' behalf in the coming days.
Jones released a statement on Twitter.
Got a lot of soul searching to do. Sorry to everyone I've let down.
? Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) April 29, 2015
Daniel Cormier, who lost to Jones in a title fight at UFC 182 in January, will take the fight opposite Anthony "Rumble" Johnson in Jones' place in the main event of UFC 187 at the MGM Grand Garden on May 23. They will fight for the vacant title. The winner will be the full champion and not the interim title-holder.
Widely regarded as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Jones allegedly ran a red light and struck a car driven by a pregnant woman. The woman suffered a broken wrist and forearm. According to an off-duty Albuquerque police officer who witnessed the aftermath of the incident, Jones initially returned to his rental car to grab money left in it. He then fled on foot again.
Albuquerque police announced that Jones turned himself in late Monday afternoon, almost a day-and-a-half after the accident.
It was the latest in a string of incidents. Jones tested positive for cocaine prior to his fight with Cormier, though he was allowed to fight because the use of cocaine is not banned out of competition by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
He also brawled with Cormier in the lobby of the MGM following a news conference and pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in 2012.
"There is a long list of things and this was another violation," White told Yahoo Sports not long after the decision was made. "You can only give a guy so many shots."
Asked if there were any other incidents involving Jones that played into the decision to strip him that hadn't come to public attention, White worded his answer carefully.
"There have been cases between Jon Jones and me and [UFC CEO] Lorenzo [Fertitta], definitely," White said. "Definitely."
He declined to elaborate. He also declined to describe Jones' mood or reaction to the news. "I just don't want to talk about him personally," White said. "He's being stripped of the title. He's being put on indefinite suspension and any question how he is should be directed toward him and his attorney."
Cormier couldn't be reached for comment on the bout with Johnson.

Walk into any Wal-Mart in the United States and you can easily purchase any combination of high-caliber rifle with accompanying ammunition. However, if you?re looking to purchase a book by a former Olympic medalist and current undefeated world champion, you will have to look somewhere else.
[DraftKings: Build your ultimate fantasy MMA team today!]
The superstore giant announced earlier this week that it would not be carrying UFC women?s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey?s upcoming book ? scheduled for release on May 12 ? in stores due to the fact that she?s too violent. You can, however, pre-order Rousey's book on Wal-Mart's website.
?I?m shocked, shocked to discover that censorship is going on in America!? said publisher Judith Regan of Regan Arts to Page Six.
?My Fight/Your Fight? has already pre-sold thousands of copies on the Barnes & Noble website and Rousey is scheduled to visit ?Good Morning America? and ?CBS This Morning? in support of her hardback debut.
Rousey is not only an undefeated mixed martial arts phenom, she is also a blossoming Hollywood powerhouse. ?Rowdy? has a role in ?Furious 7? and the upcoming ?Entourage? movie. The book will undoubtedly highlight Rousey?s meteoric rise to MMA superstardom and the Olympic run that preceded it, but if her career has shown us anything in these brief four years since her professional debut, it?s that Rousey isn?t afraid to speak her mind.
UFC president Dana White once famously said that women would never fight in the company ?the UFC?s biggest star is now a woman. Not only is Rousey the company?s biggest star, she is also one of its most important ? as just last week Rousey met with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to discuss the legalization of MMA in his state.
With this upcoming book, Rousey is primed to appeal to her growing fan base in a whole new way. She will get to tell her story, at length, and presumably motivate an entire generation of hopeful, passionate, and determined youth (especially female) to follow their dreams.
And you will be able to purchase this universal tale of hard work and determination? unless, of course, you prefer to shop at Wal-Mart.

It is never easy to suggest that a fighter stops fighting.
With five losses in a row, however, and after 25 UFC fights over a 10-year career, it is looking more likely that Josh Koscheck has fought his last bout for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
[DraftKings: Build your ultimate fantasy MMA team today!.]
?[Josh] Koscheck doesn?t want to retire,? said UFC president Dana White on Saturday after Koscheck?s first-round submission loss to Erick Silva, ?but I?m going to try and push him in that direction.?
Prior to Saturday?s loss to Silva, Koscheck was last seen three weeks prior at UFC 184, where he was submitted in devastating fashion by Jake Ellenberger. Fans were left with a visual of a gurgling, foaming-at-the-mouth Koscheck, fading out of consciousness as he attempted to tap out.
That was his third stoppage loss in a row. Saturday?s loss to Silva marked his fourth. Despite the overwhelming case for the former Division I National Champion out of Edinboro University to hang it up, he isn?t ready to commit to such talk yet.
?Nah, I can?t comment on that right now,? said Koscheck in his post-fight interview with Fox Sports. ?I need to go home. I need to reevaluate life, reevaluate my career ... kind of take some time away. I told Dana, ?I?ll call you in a couple weeks and we?ll figure something out.?
Debuting in 2005 with only two professional fights to his credit, Koscheck fought a who?s who list of former champions, up and comers and contenders while showing fans what a next-generation talent could accomplish, essentially from scratch.
Armed with a looping right hook and a power-double-leg takedown, Koscheck has amassed over four hours of total Octagon time against names like Tyron Woodley, Johny Hendricks, Georges St-Pierre, Diego Sanchez, Robbie Lawler and Matt Hughes.
And now, on the brink of coerced retirement, Koscheck, ever the fighter, is taking the loss to Silva as a building block rather than a brick wall.
?It was fun tonight,? he said. ?Even though I didn?t get the win, I went out there and I fought hard. I see the way I fought this last fight, and the one before it, and I see it as an improvement.?

Almost one year to the day since winning the welterweight championship at UFC 171, Johny Hendricks returned to the American Airlines Center on Saturday night at UFC 185 in Dallas with his sights set on earning another title shot for a belt he still can?t fully grasp how he lost.
[DraftKings: Build your ultimate fantasy MMA team today!.]
Following a dominant unanimous victory against gritty welterweight stalwart Matt ?The Immortal? Brown, Hendricks might get his wish later this year.
The opening frame set the pace for the rest of the fight. Hendricks bullied Brown with looping hooks and precision cage control. When Brown looked to tie up or use some of his submission skills, Hendricks powered out of the attempts and landed punishing offense of his own.
By the middle of the fight, Hendricks landed his lead left at will. It was a resilient display by the former All-American collegiate wrestler, who has made quite the name for himself as a power puncher (Hendricks is a three-time KO of the Night recipient).
His big left hook paved the way for takedowns ? and the 31-year-old landed them at will. Hendricks landed nine takedowns in total, compared to Brown?s zero, according to FightMetric.
Post-fight, however, Hendricks was more than a little displeased with his performance. But leave it to a hospitable Texas crowd to cheer its hometown boy up:
?This is why I love Texas, right here!? yelled Hendricks after initially shaking his head when Joe Rogan stepped up.
?That wasn?t a good fight,? continued Hendricks. ?I just can?t figure it out, man. I?m going out there, I?m starting strong, but, hell, I just can?t finish.?
Rogan assured him that the fight was more than entertaining.
?Yeah, but I want perfect.?
The welterweight title is on the line when Robbie Lawler meets Canadian challenger Rory MacDonald at UFC 189 on July 11. And after a nice rest, Hendricks made it clear that he has dibbs on ?his? title.
?Whoever wins out of those two -- I don?t care -- I want one of ?em. I don?t care,? Hendricks said. ?And I?m gonna win. I got six months and that?ll be the best Johny Hendricks you?ve ever seen.?

From the moment Joanna Jedrzejczyk earned a title shot against UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza, she was adamant that she would lift the belt.
[DraftKings: Build your ultimate fantasy MMA team today!.]
She was true to her word Saturday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, routing Esparza with an extraordinary performance in which Esparza was never in the fight. A former Muay Thai champion, Jedrzejczyk's striking accuracy and takedown defense led to an easy, second-round stoppage of Esparza in the co-main event of UFC 185.
Referee Don Turnage jumped in to stop the bout at 4:17 of the second, but it was only a matter of time before it ended. Esparza had no answers, as Jedrzejczyk landed huge shots repeatedly and easily fended off the ex-champion's takedown defense.
"I cannot believe it," Jedrzejczyk said. "I have worked so hard. I said I was going to do it and I did it. I was preparing every day 100 percent and that's why I'm here."
A native of Poland,Jedrzejczyk became only the third European champion in UFC history, joining ex-heavyweight champions Bas Rutten and Andrei Arlovski.
She earned her title shot with a disputed decision in December over Brazilian Claudia Gadelha. But there was nothing disputed about Saturday's outcome.
Esparza, who seemed tense as she waited for the start of the bout, knew she'd have to get the fight to the ground. Jedrzejczyk had a five-inch height advantage and a three-inch edge in reach, as well as vastly more refined striking skills. Esparza tried desperately to get inside and then take Jedrzejczyk down.
But Jedrzejczyk was able to fight off all but one of Esparza's takedown attempts. When Esparza began to tire, Jedrzejczyk's striking took over and she pulled away.
"I've been training so hard," she said. "No one believed in my grappling, but I'm in the UFC and I'm a complete MMA fighter. Nobody is going to take this belt from me."
Anyone who is going to take it is going to have to be a very good, very well prepared fighter.
Esparza certainly didn't have any answers, and she gave all credit to Jedrzejczyk.
"I fought my fight and I lost tonight," Esparza said. "She did a great job."
That she did.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski is 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds. UFC flyweight John Dodson is 5-foot-3, 125 pounds. Both fighters train out of Jackson-Winklejohn in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The world famous gym houses the likes of UFC superstars Jon Jones, Carlos Condit and Donald Cerrone, and it carries a serious reputation as one of the more ?active? gyms in all of MMA.

Apparently with this weekend?s upcoming WrestleMania on Sunday, the fighters at Team Jackson-Winklejohn are getting into the wrasslin? spirit. And unlike a normal day of sparring featuring head-kicks and power doubles, Dodson and Arlovski decided to put on a pro wrestling exhibition in front of their teammates to lighten the mood.

Now, if ?The Pitbull? was to drop one of those splashes on Dodson in an actual fight, the flyweight division would be thinner than it already is. However, it?s always nice to see teammates bonding over the universal language of skintight neon shorts and top-rope elbow drops.
What say you, Cagereaders: How many Dodsons would it take to defeat one "Pitbull?" Three-on-one handicap match, perhaps?

Donald Cerrone has become one of the UFC’s most popular fighters, not only on account of his aggressive and entertaining style, but because “Cowboy” loves to fight (and does so frequently). Case in point, when Cerrone throws down with John Makdessi tonight at UFC 187, it will be his 7th fight since 2013….A lot of […]
