The revolving door of commentators for the debut of World Series of Fighting took a turn this week with another change to the team. The last time WSOF commented on the broadcast team they were going to have Michael Schiavello, Bas Rutten and Renzo Gracie delivering play-by-play and commentary. The newly-founded organization has since adjusted the booth again with Todd Harris will replacing both Schiavello and Gracie.
“We are thrilled that Bas and Todd have signed on for our first event. These guys are true professionals and we know that their commentary will add tremendous value to our first card,” said World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo in a press release.
With the event only ten days away, and the production crew still juggling the broadcast booth, some are wondering if this is a harbinger of things to come. The team started with professional wrestler Kurt Angle, but due to contract issues between Spike TV and NBC he was switched out with Gracie.
“WSOF and NBC Sports Network revisited and discussed the telecast team at length and we decided that, for the inaugural event, it would be best to simplify things and go with a two-person team in the booth,” an official told MMAjunkie. “Since Todd has extensive experience covering fights and working with NBC Sports Group, we felt he would be the best fit for one of the two positions.”
Fans will recognize Harris as the voice of the WEC and becaused of his hosting role on UFC Tonight. Assuming no more changes will be made to the team, fans can see Rutten and Harris call the action on November 3 with the NBC Sports Network broadcasting the event. The card is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Andrei Arlovski-Devin Cole with other fighters such as Gesias Cavalcante, Gerald Harris, Anthony Johnson, and Miguel Torres also scheduled for action.
