Freddie Roach details St. Pierre reasons for leaving and terms of planned super fight with Anderson Silva

A new interview with boxing trainer Freddie Roach by Fight Hub TV's Marcos Villegas may reveal more about why former UFC champion Georges St. Pierre decided to take a break from fighting as well as how close we got to a super fight between GSP and Anderson Silva.

Before publishing the video interview (after the jump), Villegas recently tweeted about the conversation he had with Roach during which the coach dropped bombshell tid-bits about St. Pierre

According to the tweets from Villegas, Roach said that "he advised st pierre to take a year off as GSP told him he wanted two years off."

Villegas also said that Roach told him that the long time welterweight champion was getting "a lot of migraines before his fights."

Regarding the Silva vs. St. Pierre super fight, Villegas said that Roach told him the plan was for GSP and "The Spider" to fight one another at a catch weight (on Roach's advice) if they managed to get past Johny Hendricks and Chris Weidman, respectively.

According to Villegas, Roach said that he was in a car with St. Pierre when the fighter got a call from UFC president Dana White to negotiate a fight with Anderson Silva.

Roach has previously said that St. Pierre told him he'd never fight without him in his corner on fight night. The former fighter and long-time trainer of Manny Pacquiao has worked with St. Pierre on boxing for years.
