Ronda Rousey: ?I'm from Los Angeles, so if I get my face bashed in, I'll just buy myself a new one.?

There?s no doubt Strikeforce bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey is tough. Raised by an Olympic Judoka, Rousey has spoken in the past about situations where her mother would wake her up in the middle of the night drill Armbar defense or encourage her to compete while injured. The 25-year old has also recounted a story or two about beating up guys in her formative years.

Rousey recently added to her stock in the stoutness department during a recent interview where she talked about defeating men in judo and her take on having a profession involving her getting punched.

?It’s a lose-lose situation,? said Rousey to ESPN when asked about locking horns against the opposite sex. ?I’ve fought guys before when I competed in judo. I had to take it so seriously. If I lost, I would be losing for all women. I was never happy fighting men. And they were never happy fighting me — because they mostly lost.?

Rousey Credits Toughness with Recent Success

As far as the physical punishment associated with MMA, Rousey kept it light-hearted and made it clear she doesn?t view her gender getting bruised/bloodied any different than her male counterparts.

?I’m from Los Angeles, so if I get my face bashed in, I’ll just buy myself a new one,? Rousey joked. ?I know people are squeamish about girls getting hit in the face. It’s understandable but it’s not very rational.?

Of course, as long as the 6-0 Rousey keeps submitting opponents in the opening round of action, she may not have to worry about her grill getting ?bashed in? at any point in the foreseeable future.
