Mike Pierce fighting Seth Baczynski at UFC on FX 6 after Kyle Noke pulls out due to injury
Cung Le admits he won?t be 100% entering UFC on Fuel 6 bout with Rich Franklin
When the UFC called middleweight Cung Le about fighting in November his initial reaction was likely to decline the offer, requiring more time to get ready after injuring his foot in July. However, once the company revealed the card was scheduled to mark the UFC?s debut in China it became a no brainer for Le.
Le spent a number of years fighting in Asia as a San Shou competitor and has a great deal of respect for China?s history where martial arts are concerned. Throw in the added bonus of a legendary opponent, and Le went from hesitant to head-over-heels about the opportunity being sent his way on November 10 at UFC on Fuel 6.
?A lot of people thought after I fought Wanderlei Silva I was going to be done. But look at me now: two fights into my contract and I’m getting ready to fight the biggest fight of my life against Rich Franklin. It doesn’t get any better than this. It’s like a dream come true for me,? said Le in an interview with The MMA Hour, though he also admitted, ?Definitely if this fight wasn’t in Macau, China, even if I was in a main event somewhere else, I’d give myself the right amount of time so my foot could really heal.?
Le Not Ready to Retire Just Yet
The former Strikeforce champion suffered the damage in clash with Patrick Cote at UFC 148, exiting the match-up with the foot grossly swollen though not necessarily broken. With the number of kicks associated with his offense, fans might question how well Le will be able to perform come showtime in a few weeks. Then again, considering how excited Le is about facing Franklin in China, chances are his adrenaline will mask any pain and fans will be treated to a fantastic fight between two game competitors.

Undefeated fighter plans to get married, then fight on the same day
Louisiana fighter Kurt Holobaugh has had a very hot start to his mixed martial arts career. He has rattled off eight straight wins with seven professional fights and one amateur. To keep his hot streak going, Holobaugh will fight at Fight Force International's event in Biloxi, Miss., on Saturday.
Earlier that day, he has a little bit of business to take care of. He is going to get married on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. The best part is that it was her idea.
"It was my wife's idea," Holobaugh told MMA Fighting. "Biloxi's a pretty city and she's a fan of the beach, so we're going to have a minister do a ceremony there. When we get home, we'll do a big reception and have family and team members down here. It should be good, it will be good to come home married and with a victory and celebrate."
Holobaugh is very smart to marry this woman. For the fighters out there, if you find a partner who shares your love of the sport so much that the wedding and a fight can fall on the same day, you lock it down.

Is the Silva-Bonnar fun fight enough reason to buy UFC 153?
Earlier this week, UFC president Dana White called the hastily thrown-together bout between Stephan Bonnar and UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva a fun fight.
Asked earlier this month in Nottingham, England, if those ripping the matchup should relax a bit, White said certainly.
"You're absolutely, 100 percent right (that it's OK to have fun fights sometimes)," White told MMAjunkie.com. "The fact that the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world steps up and says, 'Somebody's hurt? I'm in'? Second time he's done it, too ?he came in late after i'd already canceled the Jones fight. It's weird (fans are down on it)."
I like fun fights. Who doesn't like a fight that just exists for entertainment? But when you're talking about the pound-for-pound king who is 37 years old, you have to consider how many fights he has left in him. Is a fun fight at a bigger weight class the best way to use him?
[Related: Buy the UFC 153 PPV on Yahoo! Sports]
Another problem is with putting a fun fight as the main event of a pay-per-view. $54.95 is a lot of money to spend to watch the world's best fighter go against someone who is not considered a challenge, by oddsmakers or anyone else in the sport.
Yes, Silva saved UFC 153 from going down in flames like UFC 151 before it, but White shouldn't be surprised when people aren't over the moon about a "fun fight."

Ed Soares pitches Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre super-fight
When you are Anderson Silva, you get to make a lot of decisions about who you are fighting and your plans for the future. It’s what you get when you earn the moniker of the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet and the most dominant MMA champion in the history of the sport. As such, it seems the Silva camp is really pushing for the super-fight with Georges St-Pierre with the Brazilian’s manager recently taking to the airwaves to make his fighter’s case.
?GSP is the greatest welterweight of all time,” Soares explained to Inside MMA. “People argue back and forth who the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in the world is. Some people say it’s Anderson, some people say it’s Georges St-Pierre. I think the way to settle it is to do a catch weight at 177.5, right down the middle, and see what happens.”
UFC President Dana White has recently warmed up to the idea of the bout between greats as the outcry from fans has been snowballing over the past few years. In an interview on Fuel TV in September White said, ?If GSP gets through Condit that could be the next fight. I think when you get a point in your career as these guys have..you want to test yourself. You say to yourself I could beat that guy.?
Of course, GSP has interim champion Carlos Condit in front of him before he can even consider signing for the bout, but the spotlight on such a scrap would have to be enticing. Even White has talked about the match-up filling a 100,000 seat stadium in Dallas.
For the time being, Soares is already priming the motor for the fight and it sounds like he will be rooting for St-Pierre in Montreal at UFC 154.
“Who knows what’s next. Maybe after (a possible fight with St-Pierre), who knows. A possibility it could be Jon Jones, or maybe even Michael Bisping,” Soares said. “There are so many different fighters out there that could potentially be big fights.”
Silva Thinks GSP Would Be Easier to Beat than Jones
Jones, the light heavyweight champ, has shied away from meeting Silva in the ring with the feeling being primarily mutual, while Bisping is on the cusp of contendership and has the starpower to put on a big bout against “The Spider”.

Jon Jones Plans Move to Heavyweight in 2013
Considering the fact the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has run roughshod through the division, dismantling every elite fighter put in front of him, it’s become harder and harder to imagine that the 205 lb. talent pool having much left for the young king after a few more fights. TUF 16 Results: Teams tied after controversial scoring call
There’s no shortage of controversy on Ultimate Fighter 16 but, thus far, the bulk of it has involved the shortcomings of those keeping score rather than competing inside the Octagon. For the third straight week UFC President Dana White was left disgusted by what he deemed as pathetic decisions on the part of the ringside officials.
This time around the controversy surrounded a scrap between Team Nelson’s Michael Hill and Team Carwin’s Matt Secor. The opening round featured a fairly matched fight with neither getting the advantage or doing much damage. In the second stanza Secor pulled ahead with some solid ground work, setting up a third frame where he continued his mat-based dominance and nearly procured a submission or two along the way. However, in the end, the judges handed a decision win to Hill, leaving White, coaches Roy Nelson-Shane Carwin, and even the involved fighters somewhat dumbfounded.
Two previous episodes featured similar outcomes where fighters were awarded victories despite appearing to actually lose the match-ups in the eyes of most.
?The mood on Team Carwin didn?t change after my loss because obviously I won that fight. It was more that everyone was pissed at the judges than anything else,” said Secor after the loss. The submission specialist also confirmed he’d broken his hand in the bout, an injury that would have prevented him from continuing in the competition as is.
Secor, who had been portrayed as an annoying trash-talker in past episodes, came off completely different in the episode. In addition to highlighting his work ethic and Pan American success in BJJ, Secor also revealed he’d had an older brother killed in action in Iraq and lost his father unexpectedly last year as well.
Also shown, Forrest Griffin stopped by Team Nelson to offer up some training tips and overall advice, while Nelson also came off as a questionable coach once again by making his pick for the fight a matter of random numbers being selected by the remaining competitors.

Stephan Bonnar: ?People aren?t expecting much out of me?
At UFC 153 this weekend, Stephan Bonnar will get a chance to shock the world. Well, the portion of the world who cares about MMA, anyway. If he manages a win against Anderson Silva, the world's best fighter, he will pull off the biggest upset in MMA history. Heck, it will be a surprise if he lasts all three rounds against Silva.
In Bonnar's eyes, this puts him in a great position. No one thinks he will win, so he can't lose.
"People aren't expecting much out of me. It's like, no stress. No pressure. It's really a good place to be," Bonnar said. "It doesn't matter if I'm the undercard or the main event, and I'm going to try to steal the show."

What?s next for Anderson Silva?
On short notice and against a bigger opponent, UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva showed again why he is the world's best fighter.
"I'm not the best. I just do things that people think are impossible," Silva said after the fight. "I'm not going to fight at 205 again. I fought at 205 to save the event."
He said what he's not going to do, but what is going to do next?
Jon Jones -- I want to see this fight. You want to see this fight. UFC president Dana White wants to see this fight. Unfortunately, Silva and UFC light heavyweight champ Jones don't want this fight. Though they may have plenty of cash waved in front of them to do it, you can't force two people into a cage when they have no interest in doing so.
Georges St-Pierre -- This is the fight Silva wants. He wants to take on GSP, the man who has had nearly as long of a reign atop his division as Silva has atop his own. It is problematic, as GSP is nowhere near the same size as Silva. Would it mean GSP would go up to middleweight permanently, vacating his welterweight belt? The UFC could figure it out, but is this the fight fans want?
A middleweight -- Since he is the UFC middleweight champion, it's not crazy to think Silva just may want to fight a middleweight. Perhaps if Chris Weidman gets through Tim Boetsch, or Michael Bisping manages a more impressive win in his next fight, Silva will want to defend his belt again.
Retirement -- USA Today's Ben Fowlkes likened Anderson Silva to a traveling performance artist. His fighting is on a different level, and amazing to watch. However, he is 37 years old, and everyone reaches the end of the road at some point. If the UFC pushes him towards a fight he doesn't want -- say with Jon Jones -- he could walk away.

Josh Koscheck, Nick Diaz?s camp hoping for a bout
Josh Koscheck's last fight was a loss in May to Johny Hendricks. An injury knocked him off UFC 151 before it was canceled. Now that he is healthy again, he is looking for an opponent. Luckily, Nick Diaz's camp made it easy for Koscheck to come up with someone.

UFC president Dana White said that when Diaz comes off suspension, he will need to win a fight before getting a chance at the belt. Diaz lost a tight decision to Carlos Condit for the interim welterweight belt, then was later suspended when his drug test was found positive for marijuana metabolites.
The suspension means a Super Bowl weekend fight is unlikely. Diaz's suspension ends on Feb. 3, the day after the Feb. 2 date of the event that is normally a huge event for the UFC. But even if it's not that weekend, this is an intriguing fight. The amount of trash talking alone will make it fun, as will watching Diaz try to handle Koscheck's wrestling skill.

Randy Couture not counting Chael Sonnen out against Jon Jones
Finding a MMA fan who is leaning towards Chael Sonnen defeating UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones this coming April seems to be about as likely an endeavor as finding the proverbial needle in a haystack. Jones is an overwhelming favorite to win in the eyes of most, possessing a superior overall skill-set in addition to an edge in strength, size, and athleticism.
While there’s no doubt his relationship with Sonnen as a former training partner may have something to do with it, one individual who is comfortable going on record as saying the outspoken grappler has a fair chance at beating “Bones” is UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture. Couture weighed in on the upcoming bout in a recent interview where he explained his rationale behind supporting Sonnen.
“I think Chael has a great opportunity to win this fight, actually,” said Couture in a conversation with MMA Uncensored. “Technically, I see a similar style fight as Anderson Silva. If he wades through it and can make Jon Jones wrestle him, I think he can win that. I think he can do it, but he needs to make it a wrestling match, start to finish.”
Couture Sees Strikeforce’s Days as Numbered
Sonnen came close to taking out Silva on two occasions, taking him to the canvas on multiple occasions where he held on to win the round. However, both times he also ended up being finished, meaning the former middleweight contender has no room for error against Jones as well.

Bellator expecting to make announcement about Eddie Alvarez's future in the coming days
There has been a lot of talk recently with regards to Eddie Alvarez‘s status as a free agent and it looks like Bellator is getting close to a resolution on his future with the organization. Alvarez is coming off of an October win over Patricky Freire and now finds himself at the end of his contract. With rumors and dollar amounts being tossed about amongst fans and analysts, Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney says the world will know sooner than later if he will be staying with the organization.
?We do our analysis and try to determine if it fits in our model. Eddie can say, ‘I’m going to go see what they offer,’ and if he does, there’s no reason to dance,” said Rebney to in an interview with MMAFighting.
Alvarez Says It’s Nice to Have Options
It is well known that Bellator has a much different pay scale than the UFC and Rebney said he expects Alvarez to look what?s on the table regardless of where the deal is coming from.
?If he wants to look at what they’re offering, and I don’t think that’s unreasonable by the way, I’ll open the door sooner than we’re required. I’m not saying we won’t come to an agreement, but even though we’re having some good talks, that’s what it might come down to.”
“My read on Ed is that he’s approached these talks professionally and totally in good faith. He’s made the effort to come sit and talk to us. He’s followed up and asked a lot of questions as far as what we can do for him, the exposure we can provide and what other doors we can open,? Rebney continued. ?He’s been very engaged. Ed’s been rock-solid for us for years, and if he wants to see what they are going to offer, I’m going to let him see.”
All said and done, Rebney stated the situation isn?t about just throwing out money offers, and they understand how big of deal this is.
“It’s an interesting spot. We’ve talked about the dynamics for months about him staying or leaving, and we don’t make decisions based off emotions,” he concluded.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2012 Results: CM Punk retains thanks to referee interference, Big Show becomes champion
The WWE?s annual card featuring caged calamity was back tonight with an extremely interesting lineup topped by WWE Champion CM Punk putting his gold up for grabs in the main event against unbeaten behemoth Ryback. In the WWE Hell in a Cell 2012 headliner, Punk was out to make good on his claim of being ?the best in the world? by taking out the much larger man who had his way with the title-holder in recent weeks.
Things looked good for Ryback throughout the bout, even going so far as to “Hulk Up” and recover from an attack with a Kendo Stick, but Punk ultimately emerged with his title-reign in tow after the referee landed a low blow, then dished out a quick-count for the pinfall victory. As might be expected, Ryback reacted poorly to being screwed over, decimating the official and eventually hitting Punk with a “Shell Shock” finisher on top of the cell.
Also scheduled for Hell in a Cell, Sheamus failed in his attempt to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against the Big Show, fighting valiantly before being caught with a K.O. Punch while trying to deliver a Brogue Kick. Both men dished out a ton of damage on the other with each landing a finisher prior to the final sequence leading to the strike-based stoppage.
The surprisingly successful team of Kane/Daniel Bryan each remained the ?tag team champion? against the duo of Damien Sandow/Cody Rhodes though by way of disqualification rather than actually defeating their opponents. The end came when Kane decided to beat down Rhodes/Sandow despite not being the legal man in the ring, teasing dissent in the ranks of “Team Hell No”.
A rundown of winners/losers from the evening?s action can be found below:
Randy Orton def. Alberto Del Rio via Pinfall (RKO)
Cody Rhodes/Damien Sandow def. Kane/Daniel Bryan via Disqualification
Kofi Kingston def. The Miz via Pinfall to Retain Intercontinental Championship (Trouble in Paradise)
Antonio Cesaro def. Justin Gabriel via Pinfall to Retian U.S. Championship (The Neutralizer)
Rey Mysterio/Sin Cara def. Primetime Players via Pinfall (619/Dropping the Dime)
Big Show def. Sheamus via Pinfall to Win World Heavyweight Championship (K.O. Punch)

After missing UFC on FX 5 bout, Jeremy Stephens is still in jail
Jeremy Stephens had to miss his UFC on FX 5 bout because he was arrested on an old warrant while in Minneapolis for his fight with Yves Edwards. As of this writing, Stephens is still in jail and will have the chance to see a judge on Tuesday afternoon. His bail is set up $100,000, and he faces extradition to Iowa.
The arrest came not long before Stephens was supposed to face off with Edwards. Though UFC president Dana White insisted that the fight would go on despite Stephens being in jail, the fight was eventually called off. White said he spent the whole day trying to secure Stephens' release, but he said to MMA Fighting that he couldn't get the fighter out of jail in time for the fight.
"I cut the deal with people down in Des Moines, Iowa, to get him out. I accept that deal too. They changed the deal. Every time I accepted the deal, they kept trying to make it harder and harder and harder. You know me, especially after I tweeted the media to shut up, I was devising a plan to break him out and get him over here to come out and do this fight. So, they finally made this deal for an astronomical amount of money to make the deal, and I agreed to it, and then they did it again. So they're going to stick it to this kid big-time when he gets to Iowa."
Stephens' management team said the felony charge has to do with a party he attended in 2011. There was a fight at the party, and Stephens' name came up in the investigation. Though Stephens arrived in Minneapolis five days before his fight and attended the public weigh-ins, they're not sure why he wasn't arrested until the morning of the fight card.

Paul Daley pulled off Bellator 79 lineup due to visa issues
It looks like hard-hitting welterweight Paul Daley?s follow-up fight in Bellator will have to wait after news surfaced revealing the British brawler had withdrawn from a November 2 match-up with Kyle Baker. While the 29-year old is healthy enough to compete, he apparently ran into some issues obtaining a visa and was unable to resolve the matter in time for the Bellator 79 bout.
Daley won his Bellator debut in July, stopping opponent Rudy Bears with strikes midway through the tilt?s opening round.
MMAFighting was first to report Daley?s status. The outlet also confirmed bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas would be unavailable for the card for precautionary reasons after suffering a knockout loss outside of Bellator in August.

Erik Koch colliding with Ricardo Lamas at UFC 155
Featherweight champion Jose Aldo may currently be lined up for action against Frankie Edgar in the near future but the UFC appears to already be looking ahead by making sure another contender is in place to face the winner (or serve as a substitute if necessary). Previously paired with Aldo, Erik Koch will instead make his return to the ring against Ricardo Lamas.
A bout between the two talented 145ers has been added to UFC 155. The card is scheduled for December 29 with Junior dos Santos defending his heavyweight title against Cain Velasquez in the main event.
Koch Feels He Will Be the Man to Beat Aldo
MMAOpinion was first to report the match-up.
Koch was set to face Aldo at UFC 153 before withdrawing due to injury. The 13-1 finisher has found victory in his last four fights but hasn?t seen action since September 2011 when he outpointed Ultimate Fighter 12 winner Jonathan Brookins.
The 12-2 Lamas is coming off a decision nod over Hatsu Hioki to pick up his third straight triumph. He also holds past wins over Cub Swanson and Bart Palaszewski.

Another problem is with putting a fun fight as the main event of a pay-per-view. $54.95 is a lot of money to spend to watch the world's best fighter go against someone who is not considered a challenge, by oddsmakers or anyone else in the sport.
Yes, Silva saved UFC 153 from going down in flames like UFC 151 before it, but White shouldn't be surprised when people aren't over the moon about a "fun fight."

Matt Hughes says his desire to keep competing has dwindled
The last time we saw UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes in the Octagon he fought Josh Koscheck at UFC 135 and unfortunately he was on the wrong end of a knockout. As recently as UFC 153, UFC President Dana White made comments about how he would like to see the former champion step away from fighting, yet it seems Hughes isn?t quite ready to turn the house lights up on his career just yet.
The 39-year old Hughes currently has a record of 45?9 and he is very much aware that time isn?t on his side, but he won?t pull the trigger on walking away yet, telling MMAFighting, “I wouldn’t say I’ve closed the door, but I’ve got my hand on the door handle. You know it’s been over a year since I’ve fought, and I’ve having a good time with my family raising my kids, which I think is a bigger thing than me competing.?
?I’m having a good time at home with the family, and kind of, maybe, lost the desire just a little bit to compete. I’m not retired yet, but it is looking like that’s where I’m going,” he continued.
Hughes went on to say that he has had a chance to discuss the entire situation with White and admitted it meant a lot to him to hear someone like the outspoken executive say he has nothing left to prove in the sport.
?I think he’s taking my best interests to heart. I still think he could make some money off me, put me on a card, but he’s looking past the financial side of things, and saying, ?Hey, you’ve been here for a long time and you’re good to go. You can retire.’ With him talking like a father and not a businessman, it really lets it sink in a little deeper than it would the other way,? relayed Hughes on his relationship with White. The admitted country boy’s better half, however, is being much more definitive about retiring.
?My wife, of course, has said, ?Hey, you need to retire. You’ve got nothing else to prove.’ So with those two saying that, it’s kind of leaning on me a little bit. I’m 39 years old. I don’t fetch the way I used to.?
More from Hughes on Potential Retirement
One way that Hughes would like to help the sport is to help train judges, explaining, “When I’m a judge, I can only help the fighters that are right in front of me. I would rather have a piece of a school, or help these judges figure out the best way to judge. Of course, I wouldn’t be the lead person. I wouldn’t want any financial interest in it whatsoever. But by gosh, these judges need to have some knowledge. They can’t go from a boxing atmosphere and think that MMA is going to be the same way. You just can’t.”
Whatever Hughes chooses to do, there’s no doubt he’ll excel at it and MMA will be better off for his involvement.

Rashad Evans likely fighting Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in February
Two of the finest light heavyweights to ever grace the ring have been linked to a meeting over Super Bowl Weekend in the form of a fight between Rashad Evans-Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Evans is a former UFC champion with wins over a number of notable foes, while Nogueira built his reputation as a winner in PRIDE and has experienced similar success since turning his attention to the Octagon.
Though the upcoming show has not been officially announced it is likely to take place on February 2 in Las Vegas.
News of the match-up was first reported by SporTV and has been confirmed by other sites since.
Evans is coming off a decision loss to current title-holder Jon Jones, seeing a four-fight winning streak snapped in the process as well. The Ultimate Fighter 2 winner has racked up a 17-2-1 record over his career including success against the likes of Tito Ortiz, Forrest Griffin, Phil Davis, and Quinton Jackson.
“Sugar” ‘Shad Still Interested in Eventual Move to Middleweight
The 20-5 Nogueira hasn?t fought since stopping Ortiz with strikes last December. He also holds past wins over Vladimir Matyushenko, Dan Henderson, and Alistair Overeem.
