Shane Carwin/Roy Nelson undergoing additional drug testing before December fight

The rivalry between UFC heavyweights Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin has been well-documented since the two were announced as opposing coaches on the Ultimate Fighter 16, though fans who have been playing close attention to the sport know each man was vocal about his dislike of the other long before showing up Friday nights on FX.

Nelson has accused Carwin of using performance enhancing drugs in the past based on a few factors and suggested the two of them undergo VADA testing before the two battle on December 15 at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale. While Carwin?s camp rejected the notion of VADA?s involvement, it looks like the 37-year old will still have to deal with the Nevada Athletic Commission?s decision to implement an ?out of competition? screening.

Carwin?s manager confirmed both the news, as well as his client?s incredible confidence about testing clean, in a conversation with Five Ounces of Pain.

?It is smart to do, because unlike other sports, if there is doping it is not sophisticated. So by testing randomly they increase the ability to catch cheats,? said Jason Genet. ?We are open to ANY testing that is not overseen by VADA. Anytime and any lab, just not VADA.?

?Blood, urine, he can grow some hair ? anything they want they can test,? he concluded.

Nelson Says He Simply Wants Even Playing Field When it Comes to Drug Testing

Carwin?s name was linked to a steroid distribution case a number of years back but nothing ever came of it and he has never tested positive before in the past.
