K-1 kickboxing headed to Spike TV in 2013

Perhaps the most renowned kickboxing organization in the sport?s history, K-1 will look to impact a new generation of fans in the coming months thanks to an agreement between the company and Spike TV. According to an official press release, starting next month fans will be able to watch live K-1 action through the network?s website with shows heading to the airwaves in 2013.

The first streaming K-1 event will take place September 8 and involves the United States Grand Prix Championship. Additional K-1 cards will take place on October 14, December 8, and December 26.

In addition to the fights, Spike.com will also feature locker room interviews and weigh-ins.

?Spike has the most passionate and knowledgeable fans of combat sports and we are confident that they will enjoy the high-action of K-1, which serves as the perfect complement to our Bellator coverage next year,? said Spike TV executive Jon Slusser.

Spike TV is set to start broadcasting live Bellator events in January, making the network ?destination television? for hardcore MMA fans everywhere.
