Frankie Edgar officially makes move down to featherweight

After months and months of questions about UFC fighter Frankie Edgar?s future it appears the world finally has an answer (or more specifically, the featherweight division finally has an ?Answer?). According to a report on UFC Tonight, Edgar has decided to drop down to 145 pounds where he?ll compete against opponents closer to him in size than was the case at lightweight despite his success in the division.

No date or opponent was linked to his featherweight debut, though he will likely need to win at least one fight in his new weight-class before challenging for the title currently strapped around Jose Aldo?s waist.

Edgar had received pressured from a variety of angles to slim down to 145 based on his 5?6? frame and consecutive decision losses to the larger Benson Henderson. However, the 30-year old remained wary of doing so given his accomplishments as a lightweight where he formerly held the championship. Edgar is 14-3-1 in his career including victories against Gray Maynard, Sean Sherk, and BJ Penn.
